Booking Through Thursday

Which fictional character (or group of characters) would you like to spend a day at the beach with? Why would he/she/they make good beach buddies? I’d have to say Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah from The summer I turned pretty and It’s not summer without you. Both books I read earlier this year and loved as summer reads. Since reading the books I’ve wanted desperately to spend a summer at Cousins Beach with Belly and her summer boys. They’d make the perfect beach buddies. I’d sunbathe with Belly and chase the boys in the water then as the sun begins to set I’d sit Belly down for a heart to heart and give her advice on which boy to go for then I’d watch her go and tell that boy how she feels and watch them kiss as the sun sets. I of course would then go and console the other brother :P Conrad or Jeremiah I really wouldn’t mind which! I loved this weeks question please leave me a link with your answers for this week :)

Gorgeous Book Trailer for Linger!

I also discovered the other day this gorgeous book trailer for Linger. It’s beautiful. One of my favourite book videos so I thought I’d share it with you guys, here it is! :) *settles down to watch it for 100th time* If you love it check out my review for linger and leave a comment!

Review for Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

Let me start off by saying that the first book in this trilogy Shiver is one of my all time favourite books. It’s my idea of the perfect read. It’s deeply romantic, tragic and haunting so ever since I turned the last page - tears silently running down my cheeks - I’ve been hungry to get my hands on Linger. This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it didn’t disappoint. In Shiver Sam and Grace got their happy ending. Sam’s cure worked. He stayed Sam forever shedding his wolf’s skin and everything was perfect - or so we thought. In Linger Maggie Stiefvater shakes things up again. Sam still can’t quiet believe he’s really been cured and is cautious to get hopeful about any sort of future. Plus there’s still his family, his pack, in the woods. He doesn’t miss his life as a wolf but he misses his father figure Beck and the rest of the pack and is eagerly waiting for the warmer days when his friends will start shifting back to human form. Grace is struggling to keep a balance between Sam and her parents whilst all the while she’s keeping a dangerous secret. One that could threaten not only her relationship with Sam but her life and as time draws on she finds herself changing in ways she never could have expected… This book was amazing. I loved it. Maggie Stiefvater has a real way with words that really brings Sam and Grace’s relationship to life. Although this is a supernatural story above all it’s a love story and a tragic one at that. I love the characters especially Sam who is my ideal guy and Isabel who’s beautifully broken. The end of this book had me in tears yet again and I was desperate to give it 5 stars but had to knock it down to 4 and a half just for the fact that I really didn’t like Cole and found his chapters made me lose interest although he did redeem himself at the end of the book which raised my opinion of him a little. That really didn’t take away from the book that much for me though and now I’m counting down the days until next summer when the final instalment of this trilogy Forever comes out. Well worth the wait and highly recommended 4.5 stars. My Rating 4.5/5 stars ****1/2

Review for Forget You by Jennifer Echols

I’d never read anything by Jennifer Echols before until Forget You even though I’ve heard plenty of good things about her books. When I found out what this book was about I knew I had to get it as it sounded like my kind of book. That and the beautiful summery cover which will look gorgeous on my bookshelf - always a bonus! So I pre-ordered it a few weeks before it was due to come out and found myself counting down the days until its release date. Lucky for me Amazon sent it out to me early so I got to read it a little before it came out in stores. It didn’t disappoint. Zoey is perfect. Or at least she likes to appear that way. She makes good grades at school. Has started a relationship with popular gorgeous Brandon and plays the part of the perfect daughter. Little does everybody know that Zoey’s life isn’t so perfect. Her father has got his twenty four year old girlfriend pregnant with love child behind her mom’s back and her mom’s not coping so well with the break up. In fact she recently tried to take her own life. Something Zoey wants to keep private, even from her closest friends. Zoey would love to forget all of these things. Then Zoey’s in a car crash and the next day she can’t remember the entire night before. Afraid to admit her amnesia to anyone after her dad threatens to get her sectioned like her mom Zoey sets off to try and find out what happened that night on her own. Why is bad boy Doug acting like something significant happened that night? And why does it feel like Brandon’s avoiding her? Controlled perfect Zoey is coming apart and it looks like she’s going to have to get some answers and find out some truths in order to get it together. I really enjoyed this book. Zoey felt like a very real character and I loved watching how Doug and Zoey’s relationship developed. The book deals with some serious issues but still manages to keep the story easy and light to read. I didn’t really like Doug at first but by the end I adored him which just goes to show how good Jennifer Echols is at developing her characters. The reason I didn’t give this book 5 stars though was because I found the ending a little too happy. As I mentioned before the book dealt with some serious issues and I felt like the ending was a little too convenient given the circumstances, and I felt like the ending should have been more hopeful than happy as it just didn’t seem to gel with the feel of the rest of the book. Other than that I found this to be a great read and will definitely be reading more books by Jennifer Echols in the future. I just wish they’d publish them here in the UK! 4 stars. My Rating 4/5 stars ****

In My Mailbox the 4th

In My Mailbox is hosted by The Story Siren Hey guys, after last weeks HUGE haul I only got 4 books this week. I’m really excited about all of them though. Leave me a Mr. Linky with what books you got this week in the comments. All descriptions are taken from either Amazon or Goodreads. First book in my mailbox this week was bright and early on Monday The Karma Club by Jessica Brody. I really like our UK cover for this it looks fun and summery. The Karma Club by Jessica Brody "Personally, I’m tired of waiting for the universe to get off its butt and start fixing stuff. I don’t want to wait around for Mason to get what’s coming to him. Or Heather Campbell, for that matter . . . I want to be there to see it happen." Madison Kasparkova always thought she understood how Karma works. It’s that mysterious, powerful force that brings harmony to the universe. You know—do good things and you will be rewarded, do something bad and Karma will make sure you get what’s coming to you. A sort of cosmic balancing act. But when Mason Brooks, Maddy’s boyfriend of two years, gets caught tongue-wrestling with Miss Perfect Body Heather Campbell, and absolutely nothing happens to either of them—except that they wind up the hot new couple of Colonial High School, it seems like Karma has officially left Maddy in the lurch. That’s why Maddy and her best friends, Angie and Jade, decide to start the Karma Club—a secret, members-only organization whose sole purpose is to clean up the messes that the universe has been leaving behind. Whether they’re modifying Heather Campbell’s acne cream as part of “Operation Butterface,” or righting a few wrongs when it comes to Angie and Jade’s own slimy exes, they know they’re just doing what Karma should have done in the first place. They’re taking care of one another. Sometimes, though, it isn’t wise to meddle with the universe. Because it turns out, when you mess with Karma, Karma messes back. Now Maddy must find a way to balance her life for good, even as everything around her seems to be toppling to the ground. The next book I was so excited to get and am currently reading it now and loving it Linger by Maggie Stiefvater Linger by Maggie Stiefvater In SHIVER, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in LINGER, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping dangerous secrets. For Sam, it means grappling with his werewolf past ... and figuring out a way to survive the future. But just when they manage to find happiness, Grace finds herself changing in ways she could never have expected... Then I got this book after my good friend Rachel read it, gave it 5 stars and commanded me to buy it! Plus I love me some dystopia! This has such amazing reviews I'm dieing to read it. Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman Sephy is a Cross - a member of the dark-skinned ruling class. Callum is a nought - a 'colourless' member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses. The two have been friends since early childhood. But that's as far as it can go. Until the first steps are taken towards more social equality and a limited number of Noughts are allowed into Cross schools...Against a background of prejudice and distrust, intensely highlighted by violent terrorist activity by Noughts, a romance builds between Sephy and Callum - a romance that is to lead both of them into terrible danger... This ones a new book that only just came out this week I believe. It sounded like something I’d enjoy as I love books about road trips. Take Me There by Carolee Dean Take Me There by Carolee Dean Seventeen-year-old Dylan's father is about to be executed for shooting a policeman 11 years earlier, and Dylan is determined to get to his dad's Texas prison to say goodbye. Dylan and his friend are also on the run: from the police, for violating probation after serving time in juvie, and from gangsters. Dylan's long, first-person narrative spins out a plot that gets more and more convoluted, with dramatic vignettes that flip between past and present as Dylan hides that he can barely read, hooks up with sexy Jess, takes on his fierce grandmother, and confronts his own guilt. Jess is too perfect to be true, but the family secrets create powerful drama. Is Dad protecting someone? Why does Dylan remember handling the gun when he was six years old? What really happened that night? Dylan's doubts reinforce the universal father-son tensions and the horror of capital punishment as tension builds to the execution by lethal injection. So that's what I got this week, what did you get?
