Review
Rapture has been a hugely anticipated book for me. Ever since I read the first book in this series Fallen in 2010 I’ve been left with so many burning questions like “why has this curse been put on Luce and Daniel?” and “what will it take for them to break it?.” All of my questions were finally answered in this series finale and it was better than I could have hoped for, I’d even go as far as to say this is my favourite book of the series.

Rapture begins where Passion left off, there is a collection of short stories called Fallen in Love that’s meant to be read before this book as well and although it’s not essential to the series, I’d read it before Rapture anyway just because it adds a little extra detail to this book. Luce, Daniel, and all of our other favourite characters, come together to try and hunt down three ancient and lost relics that record the Angels fall from Heaven and are scattered all around the world in order to discover where the fall took place to stop Lucifer from erasing the past and re-starting time.

The first half of this book is a race against time as the gang have only nine days to save the world and so there’s a certain urgency as they travel the world searching for the relics. There are also some gorgeous scenes between Luce and Daniel now that Luce has her memories of her past lives with him restored her and Daniel are closer than ever which leads to some of the couples best and most romantic moments.

Nearing the last section of the book things get even more intense, lives are sacrificed for the greater good and we lose some fantastic characters along the way. With Luce now more connected to her soul than ever she starts to piece together her very first meeting with Daniel, why they’re cursed, and exactly what she has to do to break the curse and stop Lucifer before it’s too late.

The ending to this book completely blew me away. Although as I read this book I began to suspect a few things before they happened, I was in no way prepared for the full scale of things and thought it was absolutely brilliant. A word of warning: the ending is a total tearjerker especially if you’re a romantic and I found myself sobbing through the last few chapters of this book and got weepy just thinking about it for the rest of the day. The ending was absolutely perfect and it couldn’t have ended any other way.

It was so bittersweet for me saying goodbye to these characters I’ve come to know, love, and spend so much time with, although I do think with the way Lauren Kate ended this book she could always revisit this world in a spin off series if she ever wanted to. Rapture was an epic, heart wrenching, and totally moving finale to what’s been one of the most romantic series I’ve ever read. Read it, love it, just don’t forget to keep a box of tissues handy!

  2. Rapture made me love the Fallen series. In the beginning it was just something to read. But now I'm making it my number one priority to re-read every book all over again with new eyes. Rapture left my crying so many times and made me love Lucinda more than ever. (Notice how I use her full name.) We encounter new characters like Dee and Olianna and revisit with old ones. Either way, each one is essential to this story and most (excluding a certain few...) of them now have places in my heart.

The writing was beautiful and the plot never left you bored. Fast paced and filled to the brim with action, I couldn't tear myself away and found myself reading deep into the night and finishing it in one sitting. Even the parts that are usually written awkwardly, the heaven descriptions, were wonderfully described, giving me the sense of angelic propriety.

    1. Rapture was excellent wasn't it? It was by far the best book for me and I'm glad it made you fall in love with the series! Now that all is revealed I would also like to have a re-read of the books with new eyes soon! And I loved the new characters too especially Dee who I wish we had more time with.

Thanks for the comment I loved reading your thoughts! :)

  4. SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T READ THIS COMMENT IF YOU HAVEN'T READ RAPTURE!!!!!

Thanks for your review! I had 4 questions that aren't quite settled in my mind, and I was hoping you could explore them with me.

    1. Cam. It just felt like there was more that needed to be said. Who was that first girl he loved? Was it Luce? Was it that girl he almost married but then she wanted to be married in the church and Cam couldn’t so she left him (do you remember this from Passion)? And if it was that girl, why can’t Luce remember that, remember seeing that happen? I was actually surprised it was Lucifer Luce fell in love with I almost thought it was going to be Cam! That was a good surprise! Did I just miss something or did we never find out? Also, I felt like there was something he needed to say to Luce. When they were in the cave together and he was stressing that he wanted her to trust him, when she woke up in the cave in Daniel's arms, but facing Cam, and Cam looked like he was going to say something; in the end when Cam seemed to be dying to tell her something, but then just said, in short, make sure Daniel is good to you, you deserve everything and goodbye. Was there something else? Or was it just that he loved her? Thoughts?

    2. Dee and the arrow tattoo. This I think I understand just wanted some clarification. So cam put this tile structure together (but doesn’t remember because he pushing memories away trying not to remember his love. And Dee’s tattoo matches it because she will be sacrificed here and it is just sort of a symbol kind of confirming she’s the key?

    3. Clarification of breaking the curse. So the way to end it was to make a special sacrifice (Dee), return to the place of the fall, realize on her own she was an angel, and confront Lucifer? I just want to make sure. I understand that she had to realize on her own, that was clear to me, what was kind of confusing was the whole sacrifice element with Dee and what exactly she had to do with Lucifer? What if Lucifer hadn’t tried to rewrite time for example? Would Dee still need to be sacrificed? And in terms of Lucifer, was her task to recognize their love and tell him she didn't return it?

    4. Finally, Lucifer at her dorm in the end. What was he doing there with his coin? If she would've lost, was he going to interfere? There was that moment at the party where Luce feels awkward and she kind of wishes he was there. Had she lost the coin toss was Lucifer going to pursue her? It was such an interesting and cryptic little moment for me and I'm dying to know what others thought!

    Thanks so much =)

    1. Hi Chela thanks for putting a spoiler warning at the beginning of your comment! This comment will also contain spoilers so if your reading this and don't want to know what happens in Rapture skip on!

We never find out about Cam and although Lauren hasn't confirmed it I believe it may be because she plans to revisit this world in a spin off series. It just seemed odd that everything else was tied up nicely other than Cam like she chose to deliberately leave it out which makes me hope for a spin off sometime in the future!

To be honest it's been a while since reading the other books and so I can't be of much use!

I did wonder if that was Lucifer I found that part confusing but took from it exactly what you said.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful in answering your questions I'm pretty foggy on Passion and some of the things you mention I can't even remember, either that or I wasn't taking much notice! Very well spotted ;)
