Stunning Cover Reveals From Gayle Forman, Lauren Kate, L.A. Weatherly and More!

There has been an abundance of stunning cover reveals lately so I wanted to group together a few of my favourites from authors I love to share with you guys in case you haven't seen them yet so we can fangirl together!

  Just One Year by Gayle Forman

My Thoughts: So at first I was kinda disappointed in this cover. I really wanted a mirror image of the last book with Willem wearing the watch in the cafe and although I still personally think that would make for the BEST cover I'm still a fan of this one. It's beautifully simple and understated like Just One Day and I love the reflections in the window like the last book. Just One Day is my favourite book of 2013 so far so needless to say I can't wait for this one!

  

Teardrop by Lauren Kate 

My Thoughts: Lauren Kate really lucks out in her book covers. Her Fallen series are some of my favourite book covers ever so her new novel Teardrop had a lot to live up to and whilst it's really different to the Fallen series it's just as beautiful and is probably my favourite cover reveal of this bundle. I adore the colours used, and the magical looking city in the background, but most of all the water dress. HER DRESS IS MADE OUT OF WATER! So stunning.

 

Angel Fever by L.A. Weatherly 

My Thoughts: Lee's Angel trilogy is my favourite out of the angel series that are out there and I can't wait for this final instalment! Seb joins Alex and Willow on this final cover and he looks very similar to how I imagine him. Like with Teardrop I love the colours used for the background on this one.

 

The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin 

My Thoughts: Another final book to one of my favourite series! I'm a huge fan of the Mara Dyer covers. I still remember when I saw the cover for the first book and I was all of a flail over it. The way Noah is clutching Mara and with them hitting the bottom of the water now just seems so fitting for the final book and I absolutely love it!

 

Follow Me Down by Tanya Byrne 

My Thoughts: I loved Tanya Byrne's Heart-Shaped Bruise and have been eagerly anticipating her next release. I think the cover works really well with this title as it looks like we're following the character into this dark forest. I love the colour of the Autumn leaves framing the image and think the bright orange gives a pop of colour to a gloomy cover whilst still keeping the dark and spooky theme.

These are the covers that have really stood out to me lately and they are all books that I'm really looking forward to being released. Are you loving any of these beauties? Which one is your favourite? I can't wait for them all to be released so that they can look gorgeous on our bookshelves!

Hi guys, so it’s been a week since I last posted and I feel like I owe you guys an explanation. Things are kind of crazy for me personally right now. I have been SO busy with day to day life and have barely had any time to read never mind blog. On top of being super busy I’ve been having computer troubles again, it’s very on and off at the moment (quite literally) and seems that I’ve been having so many problems with it that it looks like it’s on its last legs. This means that I’m going to have to save to buy a new laptop and in the meantime work with what I have with far less posts going up until the foreseeable future. On top of computer troubles I’ve also been having crippling ear ache, I went to the doctors yesterday and it turns out I have a nasty ear infection. At the minute I am quite literally deaf in one ear so that’s really been bumming me out and is incredibly painful. Overall it’s not been happy sunny times over here at the moment resulting in my unexpected week from blogging. I guess I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m still here and have some exciting things planned for the blog there just having to take a bit of a backseat at the moment with real life getting in the way. Hopefully I will have some posts up over the next few weeks for you guys and will be back to full time blogging with a brand spanking new laptop in a couple of weeks :-) In the meantime here’s another fresh batch of cover loveliness…

Hades by Alexandra Adornetto

I love, Love, LOVE this cover! The cover for the first book in this series Halo completely rocked my socks off and is definitely up there with my most favourite covers ever. I really didn’t know how they were going to create a second cover to live up to it but I think they’ve done a fantastic job with Hades. While the first book had a softer more romantic cover Hades looks full of action and danger. I love the colours and the shadow effects and how it all looks very sinister. Whilst it’s a very different cover compared to Halo I think it can proudly stand next to it and will have readers very interested to find out what’s going to happen next. I think the detail on the motorbike is gorgeous and it literally looks as if all hell is about to break loose! Honestly who wouldn’t want to pick up this book to find out what happens? I love this cover and can’t wait to see it in the flesh come August! So that’s my cover for this week. Birthmarked by Caragh O'Brien (UK edition)

I bought the US hardcover of this book a good while back now because I’d been hearing AMAZING things from bloggers across the pond. At the time I didn’t realise it was being released in the UK and now I wished that I had waited because I’m completely in love with our cover. This cover to me is completely different to anything else out there on the market and I would certainly pick it up based on the cover. I love the cool duck egg blue of the background and I think the way the girls face forms around the words is awesome! I also love the pop of colour with the purple flowers making sure it stands out. I think whoever created this cover was a little bit of a genius and I’m contemplating replacing my copy with the UK version just for the pretty! (I can be very shallow when it comes to book covers) for me this cover is 100% lickable. So that’s my cover for this week. Deadly Little Games by Laurie Faria Stolarz

I’ve wanted to read this series for the longest time, way before I started book blogging but sadly haven’t even got round to purchasing the first book yet! Two things drew me in about this series one the beautiful covers and two the amazing reviews I have read about the books. Each cover seems to have a different season on it and although I love all of the covers, this one is my favourite. I love the snow I think it’s so pretty and reminds me of another fabulous cover Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares. I love the pretty design around the title and I’m so curious as to what the girls running away from. The colours used are really simple and elegant but I love how they’ve added a colour pop with the green scarf to make the book stand out a little bit more. I think these book covers are very understated and subtle and I really want to own copies of these books for myself someday so that they can look pretty on my bookshelf :) So that’s my cover for this week. Falling Under by Gwen Hayes

I love absolutely everything about this cover. I’m in a bit of a paranormal slump right now but just looking at this cover makes me want to pick it up and read the book. I love the detail to the black roses I think it creates a certain gothic, romantic theme and the colour pop with the gorgeous red dress was a good call to make the book stand out. I’m in complete hair envy this week. That girl has the perfect Taylor Swift, Rapunzel princess hair and I want it! I think the whole effect creates a really romantic, fairy-tale, gothic cover making this book look completely inviting and like something I would enjoy. So that’s my cover for this week. Crossed by Ally Condie

I read and loved the first book in this fantastic series Matched last year and have eagerly been awaiting this covers release to see how it would live up to the funky cover for the first book, and I’ve gotta say I really like what they’ve done. I love how she’s breaking out of the bubble that held her trapped in the first book I think that it sends a very straightforward message as to what we can expect from book two- lots of awesome rebellion! People who’ve read Matched may also have noticed that the colour of the books also represent the colours of the tablets. They’ve used the same model as they used for Matched and I think this book cover is going to look gorgeous standing right next to it on my bookshelf. To sum up I think this works perfectly. Can’t wait to see it in the flesh this November! So that’s my cover for this week. Darkest Mercy by Melissa Marr

I received Darkest Mercy for review earlier this week, and as soon as I saw this beautiful cover I knew it was going to be my pick for this week. All of the Wicked Lovely books are stunning, there definitely some of my favourite covers out there and this one doesn’t disappoint in fact it’s one of my favourites! So much detail goes into these covers pretty colours, a gorgeous model, pretty swirly vines around the titles, lots of glitter and sparkles to boot. These covers completely sell the book positively screaming look how pretty we are pick me pick me! I’m not a huge fan of the faerie books that I have read but I don’t mind the Wicked Lovely series. I much prefer the books about Ash, Seth and co and since the final book is about them I’m really eager to read it to see how everything turns out. I think that when you pick these books up you expect to be drawn into a world about beauty and magic and that really is the case with the Wicked Lovely books. I love the covers for this series and if I could hang them up around my house as art I totes would! So that’s my cover for this week. Supernaturally by Kiersten White

So I’ve decided to be totally unoriginal this week and pick Supernaturally, the cover’s just been released and everybody’s posting about it, but I’ve only just read and loved Paranormalcy and with my review up on Monday I decided to stick to the same Evie loving theme this week. I LOVE the colours for this cover the pretty oranges, reds and burnt out browns aren’t hugely popular colour choices compared to the purple and black and whites of most paranormal books so I love that Supernaturally is different. Once again I want Evie’s beautiful dress and OMG that girl’s hair! Blonde bombshell anyone? I love Evie so much and unlike a lot of models on the front of book covers I can actually see this girl as my beloved book bff. For me this cover doesn’t disappoint at all and can certainly stand proud next to the beauty of the first book, and if Paranormalcy is anything to go by I bet what’s inside will be just as gorgeous as the cover. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Some book covers use bright bold colours, pretty swirls and other fancy stuff to draw readers into picking up the book and some use an object or has something going on between a model/models that’s key to the story. Although shiny pretty covers look great on my bookshelf I kinda prefer book covers that are simple that have something going on that makes me want to know more about the story and that’s what The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer does for me. It’s simple and elegant and sells the book. In this instance what the hell is going on between these two people? Is the guy dragging her down with him or is it the opposite? Is he trying to save her from drowning? Ahhhhhh! This little question has me SO desperate to read the book when it comes out in September this year to find out. Plus the girls dress is so pretty totally triggering off my PDS (pretty dress syndrome) I don’t know that much about this book but this cover along with the synopsis has me totally pining for it. Here’s the simple yet powerful synopsis…

Mara Dyer believes life can’t get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed. There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love. She’s wrong.

Entwined by Heather Dixon

Keeping with the fairy tale re-telling theme of last week this week’s pick Entwined is a re-telling of The Twelve Dancing Princesses. This has been receiving a lot of praise on the blogosphere and if the covers anything to go by it looks like it’s going to be a gorgeous book to get lost in. I love my old fashioned girly fairy princess stories and this looks like it fits the bill perfectly. Enchanted, beautiful garden- check. Gorgeous princess dress to boot- check. Grand tall standing castle- check. As well as the pretty loopy old school font and the flowers tangling themselves around the book this book just screams fairy tale princess book for young adults. I LOVE this cover and absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on it come March 29th.

Sweetly by Jackson Pearce

OMG OMG OMG! LOVE the cover for this book. If I thought the cover for Sisters Red was awesome Sweetly for me has totally outdone it. As you all know I love purple books *cough Nightshade anyone?* and the spook-tastic witch in the trees guarding the little house is just inspired. For those wondering this is a modern re-telling of the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale and if JP’s Sisters Red is anything to go by I’m sure this will be just as dark and gothic as the original tale but with uber awesome modern updates. I am SO excited. This is the cover for the arc but I’m pretty sure that they are keeping it the same for the finished copy! Heck they better and if not I want to see this book the same but with awesome finished copy shiny improvements. I’m just so sad that this isn’t out yet but when it is I’m going to be all over it oh yes I am! Side note to authors/Jackson/kind bloggers/ publishers: I love Jackson Pearce and would like an arc NOW pleaseokthanksbye *big puppy eyes* ;) So that’s my cover for this week. Stefans Diaries 2: Bloodlust by L. J. Smith

Yep, yep, yep, yep. Oh I went there! This is one of the finest covers out at the moment and why? Oh only because Ian Somerhalder’s beaut of a face takes up seventy five per cent of the cover. I’m not usually a fan of movie or TV show covers but when the actors are as hot as The Vampire Diaries boys? Eh why not! So I have this slight obsession not with Ian Somerhalder (Ok maybe a little bit with Ian Somerhalder) but with Damon’s actual character in The Vampire Diaries. I LOVE him. He’s hilarious and bad ass and oh so charming. So when I spotted this cover in my bookshop on Tuesday I knew it was going to be my Cover’s choice this week. I would quite happily lick Ian’s face and if I can’t get close enough to the man himself then this cover will do in the meantime. Am I right or am I right ladies? So that’s my cover for this week. The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove by Lauren Kate

Me and Rachel are both loving the US turned UK designs this week. Usually I tend to prefer US covers for books. But in the case of The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove I think we’ve outdone ourselves! The US cover was dying for a makeover with the Fallen series by far outshining Lauren’s debut novel and our UK publishers Random House gave it just that. I love how this cover fits in nicely with the Fallen series without it looking as if it’s the third book. I’m also a big purple cover fan girl so they couldn’t have picked a better colour for me! The waterfall in the background and the colour purple actually play a key part in the story and I love how they’ve tied that in with the cover! The Twin's Daughter by Lauren Baratz-Logsted

Like last week’s pick what I love about The Twins Daughter is the bold colour used for the background and then the shadows of the people. I think it gives a really mysterious feel to the book which really sucks me in and makes me want to discover more about it. In fact many months ago now I added this one to my wish list without knowing that much about it – the pretty cover lured me in! I now own this book and although I haven’t read it yet it sounds fantastic and I can’t wait to get around to it. I’m quite a girly girl so I’m very attracted to the bright pink used for this book- it definitely makes it stand out! The font’s gorgeous, and I love how the apostrophe looks almost like a tear – very intriguing! I pronounce this book lickable! P.S Is it just me or does in between the girls look like a dagger with a drop of blood dripping off it? I’ve only just noticed this! Spooky! So that’s my cover for this week. Every Thursday we each pick a different cover to gush about so check both blogs! My Pick for this Week Halo by Alexandra Adornetto (US edition) Do I really have to explain this week’s pick? I mean just LOOK at it! I think the cover for Halo is my all-time favourite cover ever. I love how unlike a lot of paranormal romance it’s a bright golden yellow making it positively glow and stand out from the rest on the shelf. I have my own copy of this book and the detail to it in person is simply gorgeous. Taking off the dust cover the actual book is a deep rich chocolate brown with gold lettering. I just want to eat this book up! Everything about it is stunning from the sunrise/set to the shadows of the angel and the boy. Our UK edition is slightly different the covers darker giving it a more sunset effect and the characters are on the other side of the book. I like our UK one but I’m not as in love with it as the US cover I personally don’t think they should have changed it at all. This is probably because I lusted after Halo and its cover months before it came out so seeing it differently just looks a little odd to me. This book just screams romance and with it being about angels just adds the cherry on top of the cake for me. I’m in huge cover lust with this one and can’t wait to read it! The Launch of Covers So Lovely We'd Lick Them!

Today I am launching a new feature that will be taking place every Thursday on mine and my good friend Rachel @ In The Library of Ladyviolet’s blogs. This all come about in a rather bizarre (which is the norm for us :P ) conversation on twitter which started off as us discussing what boys from books we would like to lick ( not in a rude way mind just you know on the cheek or something ;) ) and then we got on to the topic of book covers and how there are so many gorgeous ones out there that we would want to express our love for them by licking them! Me and Rachel are both magpies when it comes to book covers and tend to buy a lot of books purely on their gorgeous covers alone. So this is a totally silly, superficial, fun post where we’re going to be selecting one book a week with a gorgeous cover and explain why we love it and therefore why we have insane urges to lick it! So let the craziness begin! My Pick for this Week Nightshade by Andrea Cremer (UK edition) So I’m sure that a lot of you have seen the US cover for this book and I like so many people fell in love at first sight. I was a little fretful that our UK cover wouldn’t be as pretty but when it was released the other week I fell in love all over again and I have to say that I love it even more than the US edition which I didn’t think was possible! My favourite colour is purple so in my opinion the more purple the better and this book definitely delivers on that! What I like about our UK ed is that the purple’s a much darker colour making the girls face and the book stand out more. I love the models eye colour it really draws you to her face and if I was to see this in a book shop it would be one that I buy straight away regardless to what it’s about. Luckily this sounds like a great read so I don’t think anyone will be disappointed if they get lured in by this cover alone. I’m really looking forward to this book and when I get it I’ll definitely be fighting off the urges to lick it! So that’s my cover for this week.
