Letterbox Love (43)

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan and Maureen Johnson (For Review)
I read the first novella in this series when it was first published as an e-book but when I found out that all of the stories would be released in a bound physical book I decided to wait so I could read them all back to back! I'm so glad that I decided to wait because the cover is lush! This came in a brilliant little goodie bag from the publishers along with posters, an OPI nail polish and buttons so thank you to the awesome team at Walker for this!
The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick (For Review)
I read my first Marcus Sedgwick book 'She is Not Invisible' this summer and completely fell in love with his writing. The synopsis for this one sounds so intriguing and the book is designed so that you can read it in any order you like and it'll still make sense. I'll be picking it up very soon!
The Ice Twins by S. K. Tremayne (Proof Copy, For Review)
This is an advance 2015 proof copy and I'm so excited for this thriller! The blurb on the proof cover has me very intrigued to find out what exactly happened on the night that one of the Moorcraft twins died.
Not in the Script by Amy Finnegan (Won, Signed)
I won this on Twitter from the publisher and it arrived today along with some buttons that tie in to the book and a cute little owl manicure set. This sounds like such a fun read and it's signed!

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black (Proof Copy, For Review)
I actually (to my shame) have never read one of Holly Black's books before but have been meaning to change that for some time. This is her upcoming 2015 release and it sounds so good! I got to hear Holly speak about this book at YALC and I've been intrigued ever since.
Captive by A.J. Grainger (Proof Copy, For Review)
The press release that came with this book pitched this as being perfect for fans of Homeland and Gone Girl two of my faves so I have high hopes for this one!
The Year of Taking Chances by Lucy Diamond (Proof Copy, For Review)
This sounds like the perfect book to kick the new year off with! I love those new year, new me type books and this sounds like perfect early 2015 reading material.
Waiting For Doggo by Mark B. Mills (Proof Copy, For Review)
You guys know that I am a massive dog lover (and lover of all animals in general really) so I've had my eye on this book for a while. My own dog Dylan isn't well with terminal cancer so I'll be picking the right moment to read this one when my emotions can handle it.

In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken (Bought)
I loved The Darkest Minds but wasn't crazy about Never Fade so we'll see how I get on with this final book. I'm excited to see how the trilogy is wrapped up and if I get my questions answered!
The Retribution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (Bought)
I loooovvveee this series and feel like I've been waiting for this final book forever! For some reason my US first edition pre-order didn't come signed like it was suppose to so I don't really know what happened there and I'm pretty gutted about it. I don't really want to go to the hassle of sending it back though because I have waited for this book for too long and plan to read it very soon!
Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers (Bought)
I read the first two books in this series earlier this year and it's quickly become one of my favourite series of all time. Seriously, if you like Throne of Glass or Shadow and Bone you need to check this series out! I'm so excited to read Annith's story but am not looking forward to this series being over already!

As always thank you to the lovely publishing folk for the review copies. If you decided to do a Letterbox Love, Book Haul, IMM, Showcase Sunday, Mailbox Monday or whatever else featuring the books you got this week leave me a link as I’d love to check out your books too! ^_^

 Happy reading till next time!

Letterbox Love (42)

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

Hi guys! I'm back with another book haul this week. I've got a really exciting mix here of books that I've bought and books that I've received for review including festive reads, 2015 proof copies and a couple of new releases. I hope you enjoy being nosy at what's new to my shelves and are having a brilliant weekend!

It's Not Me, It's You by Mhairi McFarlane (Proof Copy, For Review)
I've had the worst headache all weekend and I wanted something funny and feel-good to read so I decided to pick this one up. I'm a hundred pages in and really enjoying it! A lot of reviews have said that this is Mhairi's best book yet and from what I've read so far I completely agree! Here's hoping the rest of the book is just as brilliant.
A Proper Family Christmas by Chrissie Manby (For Review)
I read the first book in this series A Proper Family Holiday when I went on holiday in September and I could not put it down or stop giggling! I'm so excited to spend some time with the hilarious Bensons in the build up to Christmas!
The Christmas Party by Carole Matthews (Bought)
Carole Matthews is one of my favourite chick-lit authors and her last Christmas book Calling Mrs Christmas is quite possibly my favourite Christmas book of all time so I have high hopes for this one!
The Christmas Surprise by Jenny Colgan (Bought)
This is Jenny's third Rosie Hopkins' book and I'm really looking forward to catching up with Rosie and Stephen again soon.

The Walled City by Ryan Graudin (For Review)
I've been so excited about this book since I found out about it this Spring and now I finally have a copy to read and review! I'm on a blog tour for this book so I expect I'll be picking it up very soon.
The Fire Sermon by Francesca Haig (Proof Copy, For Review)
If you haven't heard of The Fire Sermon yet then let me be the first to tell you that this is a 2015 release you want on your radar. The early reviews have been phenomenal and there is a lot of early hype in the blogosphere. I'm hoping to get to this in either December or January and I hope it lives up to my expectations!
Winterspell by Claire Legrand (Bought)
Winterspell is one of my most anticipated releases of 2014. Since I was a kid I've been spellbound with The Nutcracker. I've been to see the ballet a couple of times and have watched several film adaptations so when I found out that a dark YA re-telling was coming out can you imagine my excitement!? This has been praised by Marissa Meyer whose books I love so I really hope this one is as good as I want it to be.
Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater (Bought)
I mean, we're all pretty excited for this one, right? I absolutely love The Raven Boys and Maggie's writing in general and will be reading this one hopefully in the next week or two.

The Great Christmas Knit Off by Alexandra Brown (E-book, Netgalley)
I haven't read any of Alexandra Brown's books yet but I know a lot of my blog friends love her Carrington's series. I believe that this is the first in a new series from this author and I am really excited to have it on my Christmas TBR.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (E-book, Netgalley)
This is another 2015 release that is getting a lot of early love. This is being pitched as the next big thriller with praise from Before I Go To Sleep author S J Watson blurbed on the cover. I have re-kindled my love for adult thrillers this year and am glad I have such an exciting book in the genre lined up for 2015.
Three Amazing Things About You by Jill Mansell (E-Book, Netgalley)
This sounds like it could be Jill Mansell's most emotional book yet! It's definitely one of the chick-lit 2015 releases I'm most excited for. If you like emotional life affirming reads I urge you to check out the synopsis for this one.

Letterbox Love (41) They're Back!

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

I'm so happy to be bringing back book hauls to the blog this week! Back in May I explained that I wouldn't be doing them for a while whilst we were decorating and my books were everywhere and now we're all done and my books are back together again on my gorgeous new bookcases. I won't be showing everything I've got since May because that would be ridiculous so instead I'll be starting fresh with the books I've bought and received over the last two weeks.

Us by David Nicholls (For Review)
One Day is one of my all time favourite books and I've been waiting and waiting for another David Nicholls book for years. The wait is finally over and I was thrilled to find that the publisher had sent me a signed copy!
Talon by Julie Kagawa (ARC, Borrowed)
I'm borrowing this one from my lovely friend Jasprit which reminds me that I really need to get to it soon as Rach is waiting to borrow it next! Kagawa's books tend to be hit or miss with me but this one has DRAGONS so we'll see how I get on with it.
My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins (For Review)
Our gorgeous UK cover, Christmas and several of my favourite authors. I'm freaking excited you guys! I'm waiting until November before making a start on this one.
I Was Here by Gayle Forman (Proof, For Review)
When this dropped through my letterbox earlier today I got some very worried looks from my family because I was squawking and flapping my arms about like a seagull. This is one of my most anticipated 2015 releases and I'm so made up to have a proof copy! I don't think I'll be able to wait long before starting this.

Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson (Bought)
I have wanted to read one of Sanderson's books since forever and I've almost bought one so many times. I believe this is a new YA series from him and so I decided to finally, finally give him a go.
Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian (For Review)
This is another book where my inner seagull was out in full force! I love this series and am so excited to see how everything ends. I'll be reading this one very soon.
Sublime by Christina Lauren (For Review)
I hadn't originally heard of this book until the publisher emailed me about it and based on the synopsis alone I decided to give it a go! Although I have to say after some research I much prefer the US cover.

This Autumn I have been on such a thriller kick and it all started when I read Gone Girl last month. Since then I've been straying away from my review pile once a week and diving into a thriller. I've got a little pile that I've been working my way through which has made for perfect October reading. I'm currently reading and enjoying Before I Go To Sleep and if you have any recommendations for what I should pick up after I've finished these three I'd love to know!
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn (Bought)
The Girl With All The Gifts by M. R. Carey (Bought)
The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes (Bought)

As always thank you to the lovely publishing folk for the review copies. If you decided to do a Letterbox Love, Book Haul, IMM, Showcase Sunday, Mailbox Monday or whatever else featuring the books you got this week leave me a link as I’d love to check out your books too! ^_^

 Happy reading till next time!

Letterbox Love (40) the last for a while...

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

Hello my lovely book geeks! I hope you're all having a great weekend. This is going to be my last book haul for a while. We are in the process of decorating and a lot of my books have gone into storage and so are unavailable to me. Because everything is everywhere right now and we are using the weekends to decorate I'm going to be taking a break from Letterbox Love for a while. I hope you like this last haul and know that if you follow me on Instagram I usually share exciting book post on there as they come in.

 For Review

Fool Me Twice by Mandy Hubbard
This sounds like a really cute summer contemporary and you know how I love those! I'm on the blog tour for this and my stop is tomorrow so make sure you look out for that!
Wish You Were Italian by Kristin Rae
I have heard so many good things for this book! Like Fool Me Twice it sounds like a really fun summer read and I can't wait to get to it.
The Rain by Virginia Bergin (Proof Copy)
I am so excited for this one. It's a funny British take on the Dystopian genre and I can't wait to try it out.
The Year of the Rat by Clare Furniss (Proof Copy)
So many of my blogger friends have read and loved this one already. It's certainly creating a splash in the YA community and sounds like such an emotional read.

Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly (Proof Copy)
I'm such a Jennifer Donnelly fan girl and Deep Blue is her first venture away from Historical Fiction. I'm not the biggest mermaid fan but I love this authors writing so much that I'm looking forward to giving this one a go.
The Moment Collector by Jodi Lynn Anderson (Proof Copy)
I absolutely love Tiger Lily by this author and am looking forward to reading a new book from Jodi. I really like our UK cover and am hoping for more gorgeous writing.
Don't Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski
I've heard some mixed things about this one. People seem to either think it's a lot of fun or a bit silly. I really like the sound of it so I'm hoping I'll enjoy it!
Between the Lives by Jessica Shirvington (Proof Copy)
I'm ridiculously excited for this! So many people have been telling me how good it is and the only reason I haven't picked it up yet is because it isn't out until August and so I'm waiting until a little closer to release date. It sounds a bit like another book I read and loved called Lucid and so I'm hoping I'll love this one too!

The Unpredictable Consequences of Love by Jill Mansell
I really like Jill's books although I haven't picked one up for a while. This sounds like a lovely beach read which is on my Spring/ Summer TBR.
Thirteen Weddings by Paige Toon
I read this one last weekend in my garden whilst the weather was lovely and it was an enjoyable read although I'm not head over heels in love with it like I know some people are. I'll have a review up with more of my thoughts soon.
The Unfinished Symphony of You and Me by Lucy Robinson
I've never read anything by Lucy Robinson before and so many people have told me how much I'll enjoy her books so I'm really excited to make this my first! I read the first couple of pages out of curiosity when it arrived and it had me giggling away so I can't wait to make a start!
The Story of You by Katy Regan (Proof Copy)
This one arrived as a complete surprise and after reading the synopsis I have to say I'm really looking forward to reading it! It definitely sounds intriguing.
The Best Thing That Never Happened To Me by Laura Tait and Jimmy Rice (Proof Copy)
I won this in a Twitter giveaway that Jimmy hosted and I'm so glad I did because I've heard nothing but good things about this book. I absolutely love these what if? stories.

Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld (Proof Copy)
This is another surprise book that arrived just as I was putting this post together which is why it's added on at the end. This book sounds crazy in the best possible way and the blurbs from John Green and Maureen Johnson have definitely caught my attention! This isn't out until September but I might have to read it soon because I'm so intrigued to know what this one is all about!

 Bought

Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
I've already read this one and although I enjoyed it it's another one that I didn't fall in love with like everybody else has. It was a fun read but nothing more for me unfortunately.
Lips Touch by Laini Taylor
I bought this one at the Laini Taylor event to get signed. I'm a major fan girl of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and am happy that I have more of Laini's gorgeous writing to look forward to!
Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
I'm so happy to finally have a copy of this! Morgan writes amazing summer contemporary stories and this has been high on my wish list for such a long time. I'm going to be saving this for some summer time garden reading!

Letterbox Love (39)

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

Hello and Happy Easter book friends! I have a large and rather awesome book haul to share with you today that I've accumulated over the past month. The books have been coming in slow but steady and now I have a nice hefty haul to share with you. Some were bought as Easter treats, a couple I won and the others are exciting review copies. So sit back with your chocolate egg of choice and behold all of the pretties!

 For Review/ Won

You're the One That I Want by Giovanna Fletcher (Proof Copy)
I won an early proof of this through Goodreads and promptly devoured it as soon as it arrived! I absolutely loved this book and you can expect a review for it soon.
The Geography Of You And Me by Jennifer E. Smith
Yep, I've read this one already too and have just posted my review here. This is my favourite Jennifer E. Smith book so far. It was one of those books that was so perfect that I felt like it was written just for me! This one got a very rare 5 star rating.
Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
And I might have already read this one too! The writing is so gorgeous and fans of books like The Perks of Being a Wallflower are going to absolutely love it!
Precious Thing by Colette Mcbeth
At last! One that I actually haven't read yet! This is supposed to be a fantastic adult thriller about friendship. It's something a little bit different on my TBR and the synopsis has me really intrigued to read it.

The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa
I wasn't a fan of this cover change when I first saw it but I must admit it has been growing on me the more I look at it. I'm still mad that my trilogy doesn't match (WHY!? PUBLISHERS WHY!?) but cover aside I'm so excited to see how this series ends!
The Fearless by Emma Pass
Although I've fallen out of love with the dystopian genre a bit this year this one sounds really good and it's UKYA so I'm excited to give it a go.
Alex As Well by Alyssa Brugman
This one arrived through my letterbox as a complete surprise but it sounds fantastic! I'm loving my LGBT reads this year and this sounds like a very interesting one.
Say Her Name by James Dawson (Proof Copy)
I'm so excited to have an early copy of this! I loved James' book Cruel Summer and am excited for another horror YA!

 Bought/ Won

The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas
I'm so in love with the cover for this one! I'm not a huge fan of short stories or novella's but I am a huge fan of this series and having a bound up prequel makes this much more appealing to me than reading each novella individually on my Kindle.
A Place to Call Home by Carole Matthews
I won this from the lovely Sophie at Reviewed the Book and I'm so excited to read it! I love Carole Matthews and this is coming up soon on my Spring TBR! Thanks again Sophie!
Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan
I absolutely adore David Levithan's writing and have had this on my wishlist for ages so I was so happy to get a copy for Easter! This is another one that won't stay on my TBR for long.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
I had this one on pre-order and although my pre-order arrived days later than everybody else's it's here now and I couldn't be happier! This sounds like such a 'Jess book' and is high on my TBR at the minute!
Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
I finished this book last night and it was EPIC! Seriously one of my favourite series endings ever. I loved every moment of this 600 page beast and I'm so sad that the series is over. I'm going to be meeting Laini next month and I'm going to be so in awe of her that it's going to be hugely embarrassing on my part. I'll be that girl that everybody hates who is crying and will not freaking step away from the line and let everybody else have a turn with Laini.
What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick
This sounds like another gorgeous summer read that again is super high on my TBR. We're having some beautiful spring days here in England right now and it's making me crave beachy contemporaries so I imagine I'll be picking this up sooner rather than later.

While I'm here I just wanted to share with you guys my gorgeous signed and illustrated copy of Dreams of Gods and Monsters! The publishers had a limited number signed and illustrated by Laini for people who pre-ordered and I was lucky enough to get this special edition!

Letterbox Love (38)

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

Hi guys! Here's my book haul for March so far and it's an exciting one! I've received so many of my most anticipated books of the year. My TBR is packed full of exciting books right now and I'm loving working my way through them.

I can't get over the irony of doing a 'Letterbox Love' post because my letterbox hasn't received a whole lot of loving lately. We've been given the postman from HELL. He's rude, my stuff turns up days late, if at all, I've had to email three publishers this month letting them know that the books they sent out for review have gone missing. Ugh. The other day I caught him walking off with a letter from my best friend. Good job I recognised her writing paper and stopped him to ask if it was mine. Seriously guys he is hopeless and as a book blogger it's so important to have a good postie. Right, now, with that vented let's get on to the books!

 Review Books

The Worst Girlfriend in the World by Sarra Manning (Proof Copy)
Yesss!!!! We're starting off with one of my most anticipated books of the year folks! I'm such a huge Sarra Manning fan and have been since my teens so I am hugely excited to have an early proof of her next YA novel.
Landline by Rainbow Rowell (Proof Copy)
If you know me at all you'll know that when this dropped through my letterbox there was plenty of happy dancing and squeals of excitement. Guys! Rainbow Rowell! I love her, I love her books, and I couldn't be more grateful at the chance to read this book early.
The Travelling Tea Shop by Belinda Jones (Proof Copy)
I've never read anything by Belinda Jones before but I love my foodie chick-lit and am looking forward to giving this one a go. I also love the pretty cover!
A Kiss in the Dark by Cat Clarke
Here be another one of my most anticipated books of the year! I adore Cat Clarke and her gritty contemporary thrillers and I'm so excited to read this soon!
Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan
Jenny is the queen of foodie chick-lit and is one of my favourite authors. I've been looking forward to this for ages and am looking forward to devouring it on a lovely spring day sometime soon.

 Bought Books

The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
This book is right at the top of my most anticipated books of 2014 list (are you guys seeing a pattern yet!?) and I had this on pre-order. The book itself is stunning with distressed page edges and I'm so in love with the cover. When I went to add this on Goodreads I noticed that every one of my friends has rated it 5 stars. Also there is a quote from Kristin Cashore on the back and I'm hoping that this will be the gorgeous fantasy novel that I'm hoping it'll be.
Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor
I'd seen this one around and was interested in it but it was my friend Jasprit's review that finally convinced me that I need to read this one. I'm loving my emotional reads this year and am really looking forward to this!
Split Second by Kasie West
I adored the first book in this series Pivot Point and after that heartbreaking ending I have to know what's going to happen next! This is really high on my TBR right now! I need more from Trevor!
A Hundred Pieces of Me by Lucy Dillon
I've already read this one and am completely in love with it. There seems to be so many gems coming out in women's fiction this year and so far it's the genre where my favourite reads are coming from. I'll have a review of this up soon.
Just a Girl, Standing in Front of a Boy by Lucy-Anne Holmes
I picked this up to make up the 2 for £7 deal in Tesco along with A Hundred Pieces of Me. I've never read anything from this author before but everyone seems to be loving this book so I'm excited to check it out.

As always thank you to the lovely publishing folk for the review copies. If you decided to do a Letterbox Love, Book Haul, IMM, Showcase Sunday, Mailbox Monday or whatever else featuring the books you got this week leave me a link as I’d love to check out your books too! ^_^

Letterbox Love (37) Books From The Past Few Weeks

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

Hi lovelies! Here is my haul for February so far and it's pretty exciting! I received so many books from all different genre's some of which I've already read and were absolutely brilliant. My TBR is full of fantastic books right now and I feel like a kid in a sweet shop. In other bookish news I was delighted to find I had been quoted in another book and I also received a Valentines card from one of my favourite book boyfriends - not many people can say that right? But more on that later...Here is my book haul for February so far.

Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Proof Copy)
This one dropped through my letterbox yesterday and I didn't know what it was at first 1.) Because I didn't recognise the cover and 2.) Because I didn't realise it was being published in the UK. And then I read the synopsis and did a happy dance when I realised it was one of my most anticipated books of 2014 in disguise. This sounds like a brilliant thriller and I can't wait to read it!
Sweet Damage by Rebecca James
This one sounds like another brilliant thriller! I've wanted to read something by Rebecca James for such a long time so this looks like my chance!
A Single Breath by Lucy Clarke (Proof Copy)
The Sea Sisters by the same author is a book I really wanted to read last year and just didn't have time to get around to so I'm hoping to read both A Single Breath and The Sea Sisters this spring because Lucy Clarke sounds like an author I'd love!
The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer
I'm SO excited for this book guys! It recently won the Costa Book Award and has been labelled 'one of the best books about mental illness' by Jo Brand a former mental health nurse. I believe that the author himself has also worked as a mental health nurse so I'm expecting good things from this one.

The Dead Wife's Handbook by Hannah Beckerman
This is another book that I'm ridiculously excited to read! All of my blog friends who have read it have absolutely loved it and I've spoken to the author Hannah on Twitter and she's so lovely. This is her debut novel and is about a woman who is dead who has to go through the stages of grief and watch her family move on without her. It sounds like such an emotional and beautiful read and I'm going to be picking it up very soon!
Sleuth or Dare by Robin Benway
Okay, so I haven't read the first book in this series yet but now I have the second one I can read both back to back. Robin Benway is one of my favourite authors and I seriously have to check this series out already!
Amy and Matthew by Cammie McGovern
I LOVED THIS BOOK! It's about a girl with Cerebral Palsy and a guy with OCD and their beautiful friendship. I'm going to have a review for this one up soon but if you're a fan of Eleanor and Park you want this book.
Cress by Marissa Meyer
This one arrived as a belated birthday present from the lovely Ellie and it was belated because she had it on pre-order for me. Needless to say I devoured this one pretty much straight away and it is my favourite of the series so far! Roll on Winter!

Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott
I just finished reading this book last night and I really enjoyed it! People seem to either love or hate this book but it's actually one of the only dystopian books that has held my interest in a very long time. I couldn't put it down and now really want a Pandora! I'll have a review up for this one soon.
Half Bad by Sally Green (Proof Copy)
Two copies of this actually arrived for review by mistake and so I'm giving away my spare copy on the blog now if you want to go and enter. This is another one of my most anticipated books of 2014 and the early hype has been through the roof with comparisons to J.K Rowling! I'm going to be reading this one very soon.
Where the Rock Splits the Sky by Philip Webb
I haven't heard too much about this one so far but the synopsis sounds interesting.
Shattered by Teri Terry
I'm so excited for this! My lovely friend Cait who works at the publishing house sent me out a copy of this for review. I really love this series and can't wait to see how Kyla's story ends. When I opened it up there was a little surprise on the first page but more on that a bit later...

 E-books For Review

Once again Netgalley and Edelweiss had too many tempting titles to resist. And that is all I have to say about that.

 Bookish Things

In case you missed my super subtle hint earlier on in this post I got quoted in another book! My quote is in the last book of the Slated Trilogy Shattered and I had no idea until I opened the book. This is the 11th book I've been quoted in now and it's still as exciting as the first time it happened.

I also received a lovely valentines card and chocolate heart from Mal from The Grisha Trilogy and I felt really special until I realised that he'd sent a card to all of the girls in the #GrishaArmy *sighs* I suppose I will just have to share him. Seriously though, massive thanks to Nina at Indigo for this it was such a lovely Valentines surprise! Publishers are awesome people.

Letterbox Love (36) Birthday Book Haul!

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

Thursday marked my 24th birthday and I had so many nice messages from you guys on Twitter! Thank you so much for that, they were coming in all day long! I had a really relaxed day of eating cake, reading my book, and catching up on some TV. I received make-up, PJ's, lovely smelling things from The Body Shop, chocolates, a gorgeous handmade Twiss pen, perfume and books. More books than I was expecting actually! I'm guessing you guys are here for the books so here's what I got for my birthday as well as the books I got for review this week. Needless to say I am feeling very lucky and spoilt! On a side note sorry about the quality of these photos - I took them whilst it was dark and storming outside.

 Birthday Books

Mother, Mother by Koren Zailckas
It's been ages since I read an adult thriller but I really felt like picking one up recently so after reading some good reviews from my blogger friends I bought this with some birthday money. I've been reading it this weekend whilst it's been stormy and I'm loving it!
How to Fall in Love by Cecelia Ahern
This one was a gift from my brother. I used to love Cecelia Ahern and read her books religiously but I haven't read any of her new books in recent years. This ones synopsis really caught my attention and I'm looking forward to rediscovering this author soon.
Kiss Me First by Lottie Moggach
This is another book a little out of my comfort zone but I think it sounds fantastic and I've seen so many good reviews for it! Maybe this will be the year I rediscover my love for adult thrillers?
Vicious by V. E. Schwab
This one has been on my wishlist since it was first released in the US but I've been holding out for the UK edition and was so happy to receive this from my mum and dad. I love Victoria Schwab's YA novels and I can't wait to read this!

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
This book has been on my wishlist for ages but there are so many gorgeous editions of it that I wasn't sure which one to get! I was really pleased to receive this edition which has the girl in the dress from the UK cover and the lovely design of the US hardback. Basically it's the best of both from the two covers I was torn between! I've heard great things for this series and can't wait to see what the fuss is about.
Golden by Jessi Kirby
Jessi Kirby is an author I've been meaning to check out for a while. I've read so many rave reviews for Golden and I'm so glad I have a hardback copy - it's absolutely beautiful!
The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson
Laurie is one of my favourite authors from when I was a teen so I was all over this one when I opened it! It's also about PTSD which I've been diagnosed with so I can't wait to see how she handles it.

For Review

Far From You by Tess Sharpe (Proof Copy)
I was so excited when this came in the post! It sounds like a fantastic YA thriller and has been on my radar for a while now. I'm looking forward to reading and reviewing this soon.
The One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
This book arrived as a total surprise and I couldn't be happier! I've only read one book by the author before and that was the beautiful Me Before You which is actually one of my all time favourite books so I'm really excited to read something new from Jojo.
If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch
This one I've actually already read and reviewed (check out my review here) but it arrived as a surprise along with Far From You from the publishers. This is the new paperback edition and I'm completely in love with this cover! I only had the proof copy until now so I'm so happy to replace it with this beautiful edition.

 From Netgalley

Netgalley got me again this week! Simon and Schuster UK have recently joined and have been tempting me with their upcoming titles. I just finished reading The Wish List by Jane Costello which I read for my birthday and I absolutely loved it! I just had to snatch up The Time of Our Lives when I saw it on there! The Year of the Rat is one that I've heard exciting things about for months now and it sounds absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. Then there's the new J.A Redmerski who is one of my favourite NA authors. The publishers emailed me about The Memory Book which sounds right up my street and like another beautiful and moving read. It also has a comparison to Me Before You which completely sold me. I have so many exciting books on my Kindle right now that I'm like a kid in a sweetshop - spoiled for choice and not sure where to begin first!

Letterbox Love (35) First Book Haul of the Year!

Letterbox Love is a meme hosted by Lynsey @ Narratively Speaking for UK based book bloggers to showcase the books that they’ve received each week.

Why, hello there Letterbox Lovers! I haven't done one of these things since October. My reason? I'm being really choosy with what I accept for review these days and with the books I actually buy. I've found myself being really picky with the books I read recently - which I don't think is a bad thing - but it does mean that gone are the days of mega book hauls which is kind of sad but I'm actually really enjoying being selective with my reading. It's all about quality over quantity! There are actually only 5 books on my wishlist that are out right now which is kind of crazy. Anyway, I digress. I do have a book haul for you today which consists of all of the books I've acquired so far in January. It's my 24th birthday next Thursday so I might be back with another little haul next week. I'm not sure how often I'll be taking part in Letterbox Love in the future but I will be doing them whenever I have enough books to put together to do a post. Here's my haul for January so far!

 For Review

Looking For JJ by Anne Cassidy
I first read and loved Looking For JJ when I was a teenager and with the anticipated sequel Finding Jennifer Jones finally out next month the publishers have very kindly sent me the first book to re-read and refresh my memory ready for the sequel! I hope I love this just as much the second time around.
The Three by Sarah Lotz (Proof Copy)
This book was a total surprise, I hadn't even heard of it until it landed on my doorstep from the publishers but after reading the synopsis I am SO excited to read this! It sounds so strange and creepy and I HAVE to know what's going on. I have high hopes for this.
Finding Jennifer Jones by Anne Cassidy
This arrived along with Looking For JJ and I plan on reading and reviewing both books back to back soon!
The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson by Paige Toon
I've been so excited for this book ever since I heard about it! Paige Toon is a hugely successful writer of women's fiction and this is her first venture into YA revolving around the daughter of Johnny Jefferson from her adult novels Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine.
It Felt Like a Kiss by Sarra Manning
This book came as another surprise! I received a proof copy at the end of last year and this week I was sent a gorgeous finished copy. I love Sarra's YA books and have yet to read one of her chick-lit novels so this will be a fantastic place to start. Really looking forward to reading this soon!

e-books

Netgalley and Edelweiss have been full of tempting goodies lately which is where I got all of these apart from Making Faces which I bought after reading the synopsis and seeing the Beauty and the Beast comparison. After receiving a new Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas I have been loving reading on my Kindle even more than usual lately and I'm really looking forward to reading these beauties!

As always thank you to the lovely publishing folk for the review copies. If you decided to do a Letterbox Love, Book Haul, IMM, Showcase Sunday, Mailbox Monday or whatever else featuring the books you got this week leave me a link as I’d love to check out your books too! ^_^
