Book Bloggers Hop & Follow My Book Blog Friday!

Hello to all my wonderful followers and to hopefully some potential new ones! This Friday I’m participating in The Book Bloggers Hop which is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and Follow my Book Blog Friday that’s hosted over at Parajunkee's View. If you wish to take part please stop by there and sign the Mr Linky. This week's question from The Hop is… Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it? Well I read a lot of different genre’s and love a lot of different genres. But I can hardly ever pull myself away from YA long enough to read any of them. I love how the genre of YA really covers a whole lot of other genres. It can be contemporary fiction or sci-fi or paranormal romance there’s so much choice when you go to the YA section of a bookstore. Being only 20 I still feel very much like a teenager myself and can connect to teen characters more than say a 30 year old heroine with kids and a divorce on her plate. I love the characters and I love the possibilities that come when you pick up a YA book and that’s why it’s my drug of choice. This week's question from Follow Friday is… What makes up your non-human family?? I only have the one fur baby my 4 year old labradoodle Dylan. He’s a cross between a poodle and a Labrador so if you haven’t heard of them before just picture a really fluffy Labrador. He’s HUGE and because he’s so big and fluffy we nickname him Bear. When people see the size of him their usually intimidated but he’s the biggest softy and would make the worst guard dog ever! That being said I’m not just a dog person I also love cats but unfortunately with having a huge dog I can’t get a cat but that doesn’t mean I don’t love swooning over the cuteness of other peoples cats! I’ve never had a cat before but would love to be a proud owner of one someday. Thank you for stopping by my blog!! Please leave me a link back to yours if you are a new follower so I can return the hello :-)

This week's question from The Hop is... What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters? My answer: I think it’s very important to have both. Although if a book has brilliant characters that I come to think of as friends I definitely get more into the story because I care about what’s going to happen to them next. I think a story can survive with great characters but a not so great plot where as if you have a fantastic plot but unlikeable characters the plot sometimes isn’t strong enough to stand alone if you don’t really care what happens to the people the story centre’s around.
Thank you for stopping by my blog!! Please leave me a link back to yours if you are a new follower so I can return the hello :-)

Book Bloggers Hop & Follow My Book Blog Friday!

Hello to all my wonderful followers and to hopefully some potential new ones! This Friday I’m participating in The Book Bloggers hop which is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and Follow my Book Blog Friday that’s hosted over at Parajunkee's View if you wish to take part please stop by there and sign the Mr Linky. This week’s question from the hop is… "If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?" My answer: Always, always, always! I’m very particular about reading books in order. Even if it’s a spin off series that catches my eye I will always read the first series first- just because I don’t want to feel like I’m missing out on something and if the books are great then I’d want to read them in their proper order. Before I buy a book I always check up on the author and see if they’ve released anything else before it because sometimes I even like to read an author whose books aren’t necessarily part of a series in order of the release date especially if old characters make a brief re-appearance. Like Sarah Dessen’s books for example she’s famous for doing that. So I guess to cut this answer short I would never EVER read a series out of order I can’t think of anything worse! Well I hope your all enjoying my blog and I hope some of you decide to follow! Feel free to leave me a link to your blog and let me know your answer to this week’s question. It’s great to have you all here!

This week’s question from the hop is… "What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?" My answer: Luckily I’ve only ever lost 2 followers before and I honestly don’t mind. I mean you win some you lose some. You can’t please everybody and I usually gain a new follower within the week to make up for that one I’ve lost. If I lost a regular for whatever reason I think I’d be more upset. The thing is there are so many brilliant blogs out there and you can’t keep up with and follow all of them so for me it’s about selecting those special few that you really enjoy. For that reason I really appreciate those followers that come back week after week and leave me a comment. It shows that they enjoy my blog and care about what I have to say. So I guess to sum up if it’s someone whose just clicked follow and never looked at my blog again no I don’t mind but if it were a regular follower it would hurt a lot. I myself haven’t yet stopped following a blog. When I started blogging I would follow everyone and anyone but these days I’m pickier about who I follow because I follow so many cool people already. I do have a soft spot for newbie bloggers though it’s always interesting to follow somebody from scratch and watch how their blog develops, I think seeing your followers go up is always so exciting at the beginning and I would love to give somebody that feel good “what I say really matters, this blog is going to work!” feeling so it encourages them to keep blogging :) Well I hope your all enjoying my blog and I hope some of you decide to follow! Feel free to leave me a link to your blog and let me know your answer to this week’s question. It’s great to have you all here!

This week’s question from the hop is… "What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost?" My answer: This one’s easy! My own HUGE personal library. Think Beauty and the Beast style- wall to ceiling shelves, a ladder to swing on, big comfy armchairs, a huge window with an outstanding view and a window seat. I fell in love with Belle’s library when I was a little girl and it still remains my dream (no matter how unrealistic) to own one like that myself someday *wistful sigh* Well I hope your all enjoying my blog and I hope some of you decide to follow! Feel free to leave me a link to your blog and let me know your answer to this week’s question. It’s great to have you all here :)

This week’s question from the hop is… "Where is your favorite place to read? Curled up on the sofa, in bed, in the garden?" My answer: It really depends. If I’m reading in the day I don’t like to read in bed because sometimes I’ll get so comfortable that I end up putting my book down to take a little nap so that’s not productive when I want to read. So my place of choice in the day is on my armchair by the coffee table with a lamp on, a drink and something to nibble at snuggled up under a blanket. At night however I love reading in bed – when the house is silent with everybody else asleep it’s lovely to be all warm and snug lost in your book. But then in summer I love love love reading outside in the garden. A nice easy summer read along with a cocktail in the sun is my idea of heaven. So I guess to sum up I have a lot of different favourite places to read for different moods not just one set place. Well I hope your all enjoying my blog and I hope some of you decide to follow! I have a giveaway going on at the minute open internationally exclusive to my followers that you might want to check out here. Feel free to leave me a link to your blog and let me know your answer to this week’s question. It’s great to have you all here :)

This week’s question from the hop is… What's your favorite beverage while reading or blogging, if any? Is it tea, coffee, water, a glass of wine, or something else? My answer: If I’m reading late into the night I definitely need some sort of caffeine! In summer my drug of choice is either a cold red bull or coke, and in the winter I love a big mug of hot chocolate. Me reading with a glass of wine is very funny! I’ve only done that once or twice and I usually end up talking to the book with “Nooos!!!” and “Awwwss” I tend to do that anyway on crucial parts of a story but with a glass of wine it’s pretty much over anything bad or good and if there’s any raunchy scenes I get all giggly like a little girl so whilst it’s a fun experience it’s not one that I repeat often! As for blogging it’s just the same really although I’ve never blogged whilst drinking – I think that could be disastrous! I hope your all enjoying my blog and I hope some of you decide to follow. I have a lot of exciting stuff coming up over the next few weeks. With 2 giveaways! One being exclusive to followers when I reach my 200 mark. Feel free to leave me a link to your blog and let me know your answer to this week’s question. It’s great to have you all here :)

This week’s question from the hop is... "How do you spread the word about your blog? (e.g. Social Networking sites, Book Blog Directories, comments on other blogs...)" My answer: I don’t really spread word about it all that much. I’m not someone who leaves a link to their blog after every comment I post on someone else’s. I have a link to my blog on my twitter, librarything and goodreads for anyone who’s interested in taking a look and of course I participate in the hops but other than that that’s about it. Mostly people just find their own way here and if they like what they see they follow – plain and simple :) Feel free to leave me a comment with your answers to this week’s question. If you’re hopping by and like the look of my blog follows and comments are very much appreciated. This is a very special post as it’s my 100th :D Here’s to many more posts to come! Have a great weekend everybody!

This week’s question from the hop is... “When you write reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you have read the entire book?” My answer: Before I write a review I always, always make notes on the book whilst and straight after I’m done reading it in a notebook. I have categories set up and I write my thoughts on them underneath like plot, characters, writing etc; then when I’m done filling in my thoughts on those I’ll jot down any random thoughts I have about the book. Then when I’m next online I’ll cobble together all of my opinions and turn it into a review. I’ve only been doing this for a couple of weeks now before I’d just sit down at the computer and write whatever came to mind but I’ve found doing this so much better so I don’t forget anything I want to include. So in short I guess I do both! Brilliant question this week. I look forward to finding out how everybody else writes their reviews! I hope your all enjoying my blog and if you like what you see follows and comments would be much appreciated, Hope you all have a great weekend :-)

This week’s question from the hop is... ‘In honor of Book Blogger Appreciation Week, let's take time this week to honor our favorite book bloggers and why we love them!’ My answer: I love this weeks question and there are so many that I follow that deserve praise but I’m going to narrow it down to my top 5 ( in no particular order) to save us from being here forever! 1.) Ellie @ Musings of a bookshop girl – This girl’s one of my best friends and before you start thinking that that’s why I’ve chose her note that before we were friends she was someone I followed religiously for the latest posts on her book shop craziness. I love Ellie’s blog because it offers something original as she does all of her own meme’s and talks about her life working in her very own second hand bookshop. I count myself as very lucky that I’m now friends with the infamous, wonderful Ellie and can experience her book shop first hand when I get to pay her visits! 2.) Rhiana @ Rhiana Reads – Rhiana’s blog is just awesome and it was one that I followed before I myself had a blog. She’s a UK blogger and we have similar taste in books so I always take her reviews into account before buying a book. A lovely blog with a lovely blogger who I always turn to to get my Chick lit and YA fixes. 3.) Rachel @ In the Library of Ladyviolet – Like Ellie this girl is now my best friend in real life but we actually met online! I love Rachel’s blog because we literally have the same taste in books and if I’ve read and loved a book chances are she has too and vice versa. I love reading her reviews to find out if there are any I should add to my wish list. We call ourselves book twins because our tastes are so similar so if you enjoy my blog chances are that you’ll love Rachel’s too. 4.) Jenny @ Wondrous reads – Jenny is another blogger that I followed even before I myself had a blog. She’s a fellow UK book blogger who receives the most awesome books for review every week that make me green with envy! She’s one of the more famous book bloggers and she deserves everything she gets as her reviews are amazing. 5.) Amanda @ One more page- Last but not least is Amanda! Like everyone on this list she’s a UK blogger not that I don’t love US bloggers I really do but obviously I have more books in common with UK bloggers living in the same country and all which is exactly why I chose Amanda we have a lot of books in common both loving Chick lit and YA. She’s such a lovely person and I feel that her blog should definitely get more recognition! So there you have it my 5 favourite book blogs! If you have the time you should check them out too I’m sure you’ll love them! I hope you’re enjoying my blog and if you like what you see remember to follow! Leave me a link with your blog and if you follow I’ll check you out too :-) You can find my most recent review for City of Bones here. Thanks for stopping by and happy hopping!

This week’s question from the hop is... ‘Link to your favourite book review that you've written in the last three months.’ My answer: Oh I love this week’s question! I think my favourite recent review of mine has to be the one I wrote for Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma which can be found HERE. I really loved this book so much more than I originally thought I would. It’s a very controversial story and I thought very carefully about what I wanted to say about this book. I really enjoyed writing this one and got a lot of positive feedback for it. If you have the time feel free to check it out and leave a comment it would be very much appreciated! :) Feel free to leave me a comment and if you like what you see remember to follow! Leave me a link with your blog and if you follow I’ll check you out too :) Hope your all enjoying my blog! Happy hopping!

This week’s question from the hop is... 'Do you judge a book by its cover?' My answer: It depends. If I’m in a book shop browsing for some new titles then yes because if you don’t know anything about a book it’s the cover that draws you in. However if I’ve heard about an amazing book and I look it up and it doesn’t have the best cover it doesn’t put me off buying it. Having a nice looking cover on your bookshelf is always a bonus but it’s not the be all and end all for me. That said a lot of the time US and UK covers are different and if I prefer one cover over the other I’ll either snap up the US title or wait for the UK one an example of this actually happened the other day with Halo by Alexandra Adornetto. I much prefer to US edition over the UK so I just had to order the US one and when it arrived yesterday and I got to see how pretty it is in real life I’m so glad that I got that edition. So over all yes I’m kind of fickle but if a books got good reviews and an awful cover it doesn’t stop me from buying it. Feel free to leave me a comment and if you like what you see remember to follow! Leave me a link with your blog and if you follow I’ll check you out too :) Hope your all enjoying my blog! Happy hopping! :)

This week’s question from the hop is... How many blogs do you follow? My answer: I follow just over 300 blogs which is kind of crazy- I’ve never looked to see how many I actually follow before this question so I was surprised at the overall number. There are just so many brilliant blogs out there that I wish I had time to visit you all more often but sadly I don’t because it’s impossible. The people on my blog roll I follow religiously especially other UK book bloggers and my friends Ellie and Rachel. What I love though is when you find a new blogger who you just love and you become obsessed with following them and they quickly move up to being one of your favourite bloggers. I guess to answer this question in short like my TBR pile there’s so many wonderful blogs and too little time to read them all in! I really enjoyed answering this week’s question it was a good one. I hope your all enjoying my blog. Make sure you check out my most recent review on The Maze Runner and if you like what you see please follow and comment. Leave me a link with your blog and if you follow I’ll check you out too :) Happy hopping guys!

Book Bloggers Hop & Follow My Book Blog Friday!

It’s time to do a hop, skip and a jump onto some new book blogs! Yep you guessed it its time for The Book Bloggers Hop and Follow my Book Blog Friday. The Book Bloggers hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books and Follow my Book Blog Friday is hosted at Parajunkee's View if you wish to take part please stop by there and sign the Mr Linky. This week’s question from the hop is... Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what are your favorite reading tunes? I can’t stand to listen to music whilst I read. I just find it too distracting. I’m definitely not someone who can multitask so if music’s playing while I’m reading I find myself singing along to the what I’m listening to instead. So no, no music for me, peace and quiet please so I can concentrate on my book! If you like my blog please follow I’d really appreciate it and make sure you leave a link to your blog so I can check you out too. Thanks for hopping by!

Book Bloggers Hop & Follow My Book Blog Friday!

It’s that time of the week again! I find myself really looking forward to Fridays as I know I’m going to find some new awesome book blogs to follow! This week I’m taking part in the Book Bloggers Hop hosted over at Crazy for Books and Follow My Book Blog which is hosted at Parajunkee, head over to their blogs to find out what its all about and sign up to take part :) This weeks question from the hop is… Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year? *sighs* I’ve tried to just pick one and I really really can’t. I’ve discovered so many great authors who’ve been added to my favourite author lists this year. So I’m just going to leave you all a little list to check out ;) Carlos Ruiz Zafon- I read The Shadow of the Wind by him as my very first book this year and wow it blew me away. It’s the kind of book that I’d recommend to everyone and anyone as it has something for everybody. Lauren Oliver - Before I fall was amazing and I’m really looking forward to Delirium Simone Elkeles - I adored Perfect Chemistry and have since brought all her other books to read. John Green – Uber funny guy and fantastic writer. I could go on and on for a while so I’ll leave it at that with my top 4. Here’s to finding many more favourite authors this year! Big thanks to you all for stopping by my blog. I have 92 followers and would really love to make it to a 100 so if you like what you see please follow and remember to leave me a link to your blog so I can check you out too :) Happy hopping!
